Curriculum Intent - What do we hope to achieve?
At Warley Town School we will ensure that all pupils secure essential skills and knowledge which enable them to access a broad and engaging curriculum. Our curriculum will be accessible, purposeful, enjoyable and memorable.
We will always endeavour to remove barriers to learning so that all pupils, including disadvantaged and vulnerable pupils, can thrive and develop as motivated, independent, resilient learners.
Our curriculum will be planned to ensure progression between year groups and key stages, instilling a love of learning and readiness for their next stage of education.
Children in Reception Class follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework (EYFS).
Children in Years 1 - 6 follow the National Curriculum.
Curriculum Implementation – How will we deliver the curriculum?
Pupils access a broad and engaging curriculum. Where appropriate, links across subjects are made through topic drivers, helping children connect their learning and develop a rich body of knowledge over time. Our curriculum is carefully sequenced to ensure progression and incorporates effective recall and retrieval strategies to help learning 'stick'.
Learning is supported through high-quality teaching, ambitious vocabulary development, reading opportunities, enrichment experiences and inclusive classroom practice, enabling all children to achieve their potential.

Curriculum Impact - How effective is our curriculum?
We want all children to leave Warley Town with the knowledge, skills, vocabulary and personal qualities needed for future success.
The impact of our curriculum is evaluated through:
- Pupil outcomes and attainment
- Progress over time
- Pupil voice and engagement
- Work scrutiny and curriculum monitoring
- Lesson visits and learning walks
- Assessment information
- External review and validation
We expect pupils to demonstrate growing confidence, independence and resilience, while retaining and applying the knowledge and skills they have learned across the curriculum.
Ofsted 2023:
